By the Sea Recovery is founded and operated by Mark and Amy Gladden, who bring lived recovery experience, military service, and certified professional training to every aspect of the home.

Mark Gladden — Owner and Founder

Mark is a military veteran (Desert Shield/Desert Storm), a 25-year North County San Diego resident, and a person in long-term recovery. He founded By the Sea Recovery in 2013 to give men the structure and accountability he knows works. Mark is personally involved in move-in conversations, family questions, and the culture of the home — not a remote owner, but an active daily presence.

Amy Gladden — Owner, Training and Staff Development

Amy holds credentials as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-II, ICADC) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She provides professional oversight, staff training, compliance, and the recovery insight that supports the home's program quality and structure.
